MING'OMBA COPPER MINE, ZAMBIA!

KoBold Metals, is developing a copper Mine at Chililabobwe, Zambia. The Mine is a Start-Up backed by Investors that includes, Mr Jeffrey Bezos and Mr William Gates. KoBold Metals is leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) to spot and develop mineral deposits for the energy transition. KoBold Metals has since raised $537 Million; the Company is now valued at $2.96 Billion. The Company is expected to produce almost 300,000 metric tons of copper per year. Botswana and Finland are other jurisdictions where KoBold Metals will be operating. Canada has been earmarked for lithium Mining as well. $200 Million has already been allocated towards the development of, MING'OMBA MINE. The Company has committed $300 Million to start the Mine this year, 2025. KoBold Metals has also offered ten Scholarships to Zambian School leavers in the field of Data Science. The MING'OMBA COPPER MINE is going to be the biggest copper and cobalt Mine in Zambia. ZCCM INVESTMENTS HOLDINGS Plc, has a 20% Shareholding in the Mine, while KoBold Metals has 80% Shareholding. Towards the end of, 2023 KoBold Metals announced enormous progress at the Mine mineral deposits. Zambia is one of the world's biggest producers of copper with substantial reserves of other minerals, including cobalt and nickel. Zambia is estimated to hold 20 Million metric tons of copper reserves in total. The primary copper Mining region is the Copperbelt Province. Key Mined are: NCHANGA, KONKOLA and NKANA. North-western Province has new copper deposits at KANSANSHI and SENTINEL and LUMWANA MINES. Cobalt is mined as a by-product of copper and nickel. Cobalt is mainly mined from Copperbelt Province while nickel deposits are at MUNALI NICKEL MINE in Southern Province. Zambia also has gold, uranium and manganese reserves. In 2017, Zambia produced almost 2, 900 metric tons of cobalt and nearly 797, 000 tons of copper.
